Tier II: A Brief Overview
Tier II Essential Elements:

Progress monitoring target area(s)

Documentation of progress in targeted area(s) through graphical display

Strategic/targeted intervention and supplemental instruction supported by scientifically-based research behavioral/emotional areas
-
Documentation of intervention implementation with integrity
-
System of instructional support
-
System of behavioral support (school and district)
Tier II Interventions are for students who:
-
Are currently students with disabilities who do not have BIPs
-
Are at risk for academic and/or behavioral concerns
-
Continue to engage in frequent negative behaviors despite effective school-wide Tier I prevention efforts
Tier II Entry is considered when students are:
-
Failing one or more subject areas
-
Have received 2-3 days of in-school or out-of-school suspension
-
Have 3-4 major referrals
-
Have 5-6 minor referrals
-
Nominated by administrators or school staff
Tier II Team Members:

IEP Team including parent(s) and student

School administrative staff
-
School counselor
-
Any school personnel working with student on a regular basis

Need additional teaching, monitoring, and feedback
-
Could benefit from extra attention or support at school before they are in crisis
