Compliance Specialist

Reviews IEP/Evaluations for preschool evaluations, initial evaluations and interim evaluations.  Oversees the compilation of reports required by federal, state, and local agencies.  Provides assistance and training to school personnel, instructional staff and pupil appraisal staff as needed regarding compliance issues.  Assists in the preparation of educational reports, compliance documents, and correspondences related to compliance, complaint management and due process hearings.  Adheres to the policies and procedures established by the School Board (such as the discipline policy) as well as the rules and regulations mandated by federal and state laws.  Communicates effectively with school personnel and special education staff regarding compliance issues to assure appropriate delivery of services to students.  Collaborates with other departments to assure proper procedures regarding compliance issues are conveyed to all staff.  Provides confidentiality training.  Assists with Self-Review Monitoring.  Disseminates Prior Notice Letters.  Reviews/compiles annual state reports for (self-assessment, disproportionality, and CEIS data reports).  Participates in Manifestation Determination Reviews and Not Yet Eligible reviews.  Monitors parent complaints and works with parental support agencies.  Provides placement support.  Attends IEP/SBLC meetings.  Manages the Department of Exceptional Children portion of the Academic Affairs Newsletter.  Coordinates information for Child Find activities.  Assists with the development of guidelines and procedures for assurance of departmental compliance with federal and state guidelines.  Develops performance objectives and prepares a professional growth plan supporting established department and school system goals.  Maintains accurate records and reports and forwards these to appropriate authorities upon request.  Keeps abreast of new developments in special education and keeps other appropriate school personnel informed.  Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
